Rowing the Fayoum Lakes
A 48 hour Rowing, Hiking & Camping Adventure
Welcome to the 48-life one of a kind Rowing & Kayaking adventure across the Lakes of Fayoum. On this voyage, we will Row or Kayak across the Upper Lake of Wadi el Rayan & the Lower Lakes of Wadi el Rayan, Hike the distance between them, and Camp & Dine along their shores.
You have the option to either Row the whole voyage on a 4 person sculling boat, or Kayak the whole voyage on a single Kayak or a double Kayak.
There are only 8 rowing spots available, and they are open to experts only. Proof of expertise has to be provided to ScullnBlades rowing school, who may ask you to come in for an assessment session before confirming your spot.
Kayaks are available for both beginners and experts, as well as late birds. Single and double kayaks available and will be allocated on a 1st book 1st serve basis.
Voyage Brief
Friday - March 26th
5:30 am - Bus meet at ScullnBlades in Maadi, Cairo
8:30 am - Arrival to Fayoum - Wadi el Rayan's Upper Lake
9:00 am - Assigning boats & Brief

9:30 am - Start Rowing 10 km south across the Upper Lake to our Lunch spot
11:30 am - Arrival to Lunch - Stretch, Lunch & Chill
1:30 pm - Start Rowing 4 km east across the Upper Lake to our Campsite
2:30 pm - Arrival to Campsite
3:00 pm - Boat Tug of War
9:30 am - Start Kayaking 6 km south across the Upper Lake to Midway point 01
11:00 am - 15 min break with support boat
11:15 am - Continue Kayaking 4 km south across the Upper Lake to our Campsite
12:15 pm - Arrival to Campsite
1:00 pm - Lunch & Chill
3:00 pm - Volley ball
4:00 pm - Set up Campsite
5:00 pm - Volley Ball, Stretch & Chill
7:00 pm - Dinner is served
Saturday - March 26th
6:00 am - Wake up call
7:00 am - Breakfast
8:00 am - Packing up Campsite
9:00 am - Hiking 8 km to the Lower Lake
12:00 pm - Arrival to the Lower Lake

1:30 pm - Start Rowing 6 km south across the Lower Lake to Flamingo Watching spot
2:30 pm - Arrival & light lunch in water
3:30 pm - Start Rowing 8 km north against the current towards Ras Helal
4:30 pm - Arrival to Ras Helal
The Kayakers
1:30 pm - Start Kayaking 5 km south across the Upper Lake towards Modawara
2:30 pm - Hike 2 km towards Modawara
3:30 pm - Shuttle bus to Ras Helal
5:30 pm - Dinner Party at Ras Helal
7:00 pm - Bus back to Cairo
10:00 pm - Arrival to Cairo (ScullnBlades, Maadi)
Accompanying Guests
You're welcome to come along with any of our Rowing or Kayaking Voyagers without participating in any of the water activities. We will arrange you a 4x4 safari tour around Wadi el Rayan Natural Reserve then while they are in the water, before dropping you off to their water exit spots. You'll have the same program as theirs's on land including the 8-7 km hike on Day 2 between the Upper and Lower Lakes.
